ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
These are one-hour creative workshops for children aged 7–16, with a maximum of 8 participants per session.
The workshops are designed to develop creativity and practical craft skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Each session will have a specific creative activity and children will be shown how to use the relevant materials and techniques safely.
ACCESS
Creative Corner is located on the first floor within Heald House, the home of Topaz Dance School. For safety purposes, the dance school has a door code system in place. When you arrive at the studio, ring the bell and you will be buzzed in. Creative Corner is up the stairs then straight ahead within an office section of the building. There is a latch-lock door separating the main dance school from the office area. This will be unlocked for you to access the room then once all children have arrived, the door will be locked for safety.
DROP-OFF & COLLECTION
Parents/carers may drop children off at the beginning of the workshop and return at the agreed collection time. Due to limited space, parents/ carers can remain on site in the designated waiting area but not in the room. There may be situations where a child needs the parent/carer to come into the room for medical or support reasons. This will be arranged on a case by case basis.
Please do not leave your child before the advertised start time unless this has been agreed in advance.
At the end of the session, children will only:
- be collected by an authorised adult; or
- leave independently where this has been expressly agreed by their parent/carer.
Please contact the workshop leader as soon as possible if you are going to be late collecting your child.
IF YOU ARE LATE
If you are delayed, please telephone or message as soon as possible.
Children must not be left waiting outside the studio unsupervised.
If a child has not been collected and no contact can be made with their parent/carer, the workshop leader will follow the workshop's safeguarding and emergency procedures.
SAFETY
Children will receive safety instructions appropriate to the activity.
Activities may involve scissors, glue, paint, craft tools and other materials appropriate to the particular workshop.
Parents/carers must provide information about any allergies, medical conditions, additional needs or other circumstances that may affect safe participation. Click here for full details about our safety procedures.
PERSONAL CARE
There are toilets just outside the Creative Corner Liverpool room. If children need the bathroom, Leanne will direct them where to go but will not assist in any way. There are also hand washing facilities in the bathrooms.
BEHAVIOUR
We want the workshops to be creative, enjoyable and welcoming.
Children are expected to:
- treat other children respectfully;
- listen to safety instructions;
- use materials and equipment appropriately;
- respect the studio and other people's work;
- tell the workshop leader if they need help.
If a child's behaviour creates a significant safety risk to themselves or others, the workshop leader may contact the parent/carer and, where necessary, ask the child to leave the activity.
ILLNESS
Please do not bring your child to a workshop if they are unwell in a way that could affect other participants or prevent them from safely taking part.
If your child becomes unwell during the workshop, you will be contacted.
ACCIDENTS & FIRST AID
Minor accidents will be dealt with appropriately and recorded.
Parents/carers will be informed of any accident or incident that is significant or requires further attention.
In an emergency, emergency services will be contacted where necessary and the parent/carer will be contacted as soon as practicable.
SAFEGUARDING
The safety and welfare of children attending the workshop is a priority.
As Creative Corner is a shared studio space located within a dance school, there will sometimes be staff members/ visitors around the building. All dance school staff are DBS checked and insured, however, Creative Corner maintains full responsibility for children participating in workshops.
If a child raises a safeguarding concern or information gives rise to a safeguarding concern, the workshop leader will follow the workshop's safeguarding procedure and, where necessary, seek appropriate professional advice or make a referral.
DATA & INFORMATION
Information provided by parents/carers will be kept securely and used only for appropriate purposes connected with running the workshop, safeguarding children, emergency contact and administration.
Medical and emergency information will be accessible to the workshop leader while the child is attending. You can read the full privacy and data collection policy on the website
CANCELLATIONS
All bookings are non refundable. While I understand that things happen, materials will have been purchased in preparation for the workshop and to be able to continue offering workshops, I have to account for this cost. There may however be circumstances where I will be able to offer alternative arrangements, at my discretion.
